Year End Letter

Dear Parents:

Another school year has come to an end. On behalf of the staff, I would like to thank you for your support and cooperation during the past year. I would also like to wish you and your family a relaxing and enjoyable summer. Following is some important information regarding next year.

First Day of School - Thursday, September 7, 2017 - Grades P-9

Appropriate Clothing for School
During the past year Hebbville Academy has been able to get by quite well with a dress code that is based on appropriate clothing. We felt that you might want to have a definition of ‘appropriate clothing’ for school and after-school activities (dances etc.), to assist your summer shopping for student apparel. Appropriate has become a very subjective term as the media has altered what we see people wear on a regular basis. As these fashions enter the school it is felt that reasonable guidelines for appropriate dress while at school and attending school related activities are needed. As an example, Hebbville Academy is a no hat school. As a sign of respect for what takes place in our facility, all persons are expected to remove their hats when they enter the building.

All clothes are to adhere to the following: no profanity, no references to tobacco, alcohol or drugs, no offensive discriminatory slogans, or images.

Attire is expected to show no cleavage; totally cover the back; have straps that are to be to the edge of the shoulder and totally cover any undergarments. Muscle shirts must only be worn either over or under a t-shirt; sleeveless jerseys may be worn if there is a t-shirt underneath. Boxers (underwear/tank tops) should not show above the top of the pants/shorts. Shorts for all students and skirts for female students must extend at least half way down the thigh.

With the current fashion of low rise jeans and short shirts, students are to ensure that both their midriff and back are covered, including when they are kneeling or sitting. As a large portion of the day is spent sitting, their back must be covered when sitting. Undergarments are also to be covered at all times.

Supply List - For most grade levels, information is enclosed about supplies for next year.

It is my understanding that bus routes and pick up/drop off times will remain the same for next year for Grades P-9. Any changes to bus routes will be published in the local newspaper in late August or you can call the bus garage at 541-8252. If your child is moving from the P-5 building to the 5-9 building they may have a new bus stop. Please contact the Bus Garage to inform them of this change and confirm your child’s stop. Please be sure you know where your child’s stop is for next year.

School Fees
A minimal student fee will be charged to each student in September. It would be helpful if this fee could be brought in the first day of school. Please make cheques payable to Hebbville Academy. Fees are as follows:

Primary to Grade 3 $15.00
Grade 4 to 9 $20.00

Thanks for your support.

In closing, have a great summer. Thanks for a wonderful year.
